This week, from Emily, 1383 (in the 1955 Johnson numbering), which I believe speaks for itself, and which incidentally I first heard on Poetry Unbound. I do believe it testifies to old friends but it could be any vivid experience.

Long Years apart - can make no
Breach a second cannot fill -
The absence of the Witch does not
Invalidate the spell -
The embers of a Thousand Years
Uncovered by the Hand
That fondled them when they were Fire
Will stir and understand-
